LEGOTANIC

LEGOTANIC

Inspiration came both from our appreciation of the 1997 film, but also our love of playing with Lego. Combining the two only seemed to be the natural way to go! Written, constructed, directed, edited, all visual and audio effects are original works. Voices: Helena Thom (Rose DeWitt Bukater) & Anthony Epp (Jack Dawson, Cal Hockley, sailor, penguin, and Thomas Andrews).

Fake Film Festival FAQs

Q What is the deadline for my Fake Film Submission?
A The deadline is NOON, Pacific Time, on January 25th. After which time no further films will be accepted in order to ensure that late submissions get a fair rating, the rating mechanism will remain in effect until 5pm PST, January 25th.

Q Does the whole film have to fit inside the :60 seconds?
A Yes, credits and all. If it's over :60 it won't be eligible. But because there can be discrepancies with the time coded on our site versus the youtube site (ours seems to add one second), the official time will be the time displayed when the film is viewed on youtube.

Q Are all of the films currently on the website eligible for the $10,000 prize?

A Not exactly. We'll post anything anyone submits, provided it falls within our guidelines of good taste (think family-friendly) … Some of the submissions currently posted do not meet all the criteria for consideration (due to use of copyright footage, length, non-inclusion of Fake Film Fest graphic etc.)

Q Can there be swearing in my movie?
A We request that you bleep out any profanity. Ours is a family friendly website, so we can't have foul language on it.

Q Who are the judges?
A The judges panel will be revealed toward the end of the contest, but the panel is made up of some station staff, plus a handful of local film critics from other media.

Q How will the top films be judged?
A On our website is a voting mechanism for each film. The top 20 films based on this voting mechanism will be "scored" by the judges panel. The score is based on a compilation of three separate scores. First we'll determine whether your film is a) entertaining (ie good) and b) accurate to the original (can we tell what movie this is about?) The third score is about how hard you work to "promote" your film. This will be judged by Virgin Radio's Promotions Director. You could make posters, create a facebook fan page or website... Basically you'll want to drive traffic to our website to get people to vote for you. We just need to see how hard you worked at this.

Q How many movies can I submit?

A Only one per person.

Q Can my kids submit a movie?
A Unfortunately no. They can participate in your film, but the official submitter must be over the age of 19, as the finale is being held in a licensed establishment.

Q Do I have to include the Virgin Radio Fake Film Fest Logo?
A Yes. But feel free to be creative about how you include it. Just make sure it's in there somewhere.
