Album Review

This is a decent repackage of tracks from guitar boss Dave Edmunds' late Swan Song and early Columbia Records period from the late '70s and the early '80s. It's a solid sampling of his roots rock material. Examples include his fine reading of Dave Bartholomew's "I Hear You Knockin'," Doug Kershaw's "Louisiana Man," some solid country smokers like "Warmed Over Kisses (Left Over Love)," pub rockin' pop "Queen Of Hearts" (the place Juice Newton got her cover version from) , and straight-up roots blasters like Terry Adams (NRBQ) "Me and the Boys," Bruce Springsteen's "From Small Things (Big Things One Day Come,") and his own classic composition "Here Comes the Weekend." There is plenty missing and someone needs to assemble a real box set since there isn't anything here from the seminal Tracks on Wax 4, for instance, but this will do in a tight party pinch or for a late-night cruise down the boulevard.
