Album Review

Neither of the two tracks on the 18th Sound Signature release can hold a candle to Theo Parrish's recent production conquests -- namely the Solitary Flight and Segments from the Fifth Wheel releases -- but they are by no means lackluster. "Friendly Children" is an uptempo A-side full of rattling percussion, handclaps, and a wordless chant from a group of joyous children. Several minutes in, a piano takes on an increased role, leading the track into a more moody conclusion. "Timeislafinacharunninout" is initiated with a low-BPM clunk, with all sorts of effects smeared on top. The beat vanishes for nearly a minute and doesn't appear until after a female vocal sample ("It's true without a doubt"), and then another beat kicks it all into high gear and carries throughout the next several minutes. In typical Parrish fashion, both tracks clock in at over 11 minutes.
