Album Review

There's lots of inspired playing and youthful exuberance on this album. The band was barely into their twenties, but their conviction and gift for melody separate them from many of their older peers and point the way to their successful later careers. Though it's a little rougher around the edges and less diverse musically than their next outing, Big Black River (which includes three tracks from this album on the Black Dog Records re-release), there's a lot of go-for-broke playing here. This is particularly true of "Haunted," which in itself is worth seeking the album out for.
