The musicians grouped together on this all-star Dixieland/swing set form a band reminiscent of
the World's Greatest Jazz Band: trumpeters
Yank Lawson and
Billy Butterfield, trombonist
George Masso, clarinetist
Johnny Mince,
Eddie Miller on tenor, pianist
Lou Stein, bassist
Bob Haggart and drummer
Nick Fatool. The majority of the musicians have since passed away, but they still sound in good form on the spirited set, playing eight Dixieland warhorses. Such tunes as "Basin Street Blues," "South Rampart Street Parade," and "Big Noise From Winnetka" are brought out one more time, and the treatments (which contain no real surprises) are fairly fresh and have their exciting moments.
