During 1920-1927, the songwriting team of
Noble Sissle and
Eubie Blake recorded a series of interesting if soon dated vocal-piano duets. The 14 selections on this Stash LP (which were originally released on
Eubie Blake's label in the mid-'80s, along with a second volume) are some of the better early
Sissle-
Blake performances. Highlights include "Love Will Find a Way," "I'm Craving for That Kind of Love," and "Bandanna Days," plus an instrumental orchestral version of "Baltimore Buzz" from 1921. Historic and generally listenable music.
