Album Review

The Light Years collects 18 of Bryan Duncan's biggest CCM hits together onto one album. For what is here, the album paints a picture of an amiable adult contemporary crooner with an up-tempo approach and a smooth voice. But the massive string of hits starting with the successful Mercy album and continuing into the decade are nowhere to be seen, instead only using material from before that album. This may be frustrating to fans looking for a more inclusive collection of hits, especially considering the somewhat lightweight approach that much of his early material takes. This is a good way to discover what Duncan was doing in the first half of his career, but the Love Takes Time compilation (released a few years later and including many hits missing here) is almost a necessity to complete the career overview that is only started with this album.
