Released exclusively through Cracker Barrel, the 2009 compilation Songs of Love & Heartache delivers upon its title's promise, serving up 12 tunes of romance won and lost, including two perfectly fine previously unreleased cuts, "That's What I'd Be Like Without You" and "Nothing Sure Looked Good on You." This is a conceptual collection, so don't expect some big hits like "Don't Rock the Jukebox" and "Chattahoochee," for they don't fit the bill. Instead, this maintains a nice, slow, swaying vibe, with "Here in the Real World" and "She's Got the Rhythm (And I Got the Blues)" setting the mood that the other hit singles and album tracks maintain.
