Album Review

The Columbia Masterworks label released this double CD of trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, playing mostly classical and chamber-oriented musics and proving that he certainly is adept at this art form. The Essential Wynton Marsalis is an effort to market the trumpeter to a different audience, as it contains very little swing or bop aside from bonus tracks at the end.
