Russell Peters Returns to Canada in June with the NOTORIOUS WORLD TOUR
Canada's biggest comedy export, global comedy rockstar, RUSSELL PETERS returns to Canada with ALL NEW MATERIAL as part of his NOTORIOUS WORLD TOUR, which will bring Peters to Rogers Arena, Vancouver on Saturday, June 23rd.
“I can’t wait to get back home and get in front of the Canadian fans who made me who I am today,” says Peters. “I took some time off from touring in 2011 and really, really missed it. As a comic, on-stage, in front of an audience is the only natural place for me.” Peters spent much of 2011 spending time with his new daughter, Crystianna and working on film and television projects. On being a father, Peters says, “I think I’m a pretty good father. I miss my daughter like crazy when I’m on the road, but I get videos of her from back home and I can get pretty teary eyed when I watch them.”
Peters has spent the last three years setting attendance records around the globe; in 2009, he had the largest comedy show in UK history at London's O2 Arena with 16,000 fans in attendance. He repeated that same feat in 2010 at Sydney, Australia's Acer Arena, where he had the largest comedy show in Australian history with over 13,000 fans in attendance. In March of this year, Peters became the fastest selling concert in Dubai history. His two shows in Dubai sold-out in eight minutes - faster than Madonna and received rave reviews.
Starting in 2008, Peters was one of the first stand-up comedians to self-finance, self-produce and distribute his own comedy specials and DVD’s, with Red, White and Brown and 2011’s, The Green Card Tour LIVE from the O2 Arena. The DVD’s went on to sell over 200,000 units across North America. Both specials were broadcast on Showtime Networks and Comedy Central in the States as well as Netflix globally. Peters is currently working on developing original content for Netflix.
Peters has given away more than a million dollars over the past several years to various charities, from the Brampton Civic Hospital, to Heart House Hospice, Gilda’s Club, the MS Society and a scholarship at his old high-school, The Russell Peters North Peel Scholarship to send a deserving student to college. The scholarship is now in its third year.
Russell Peters Notorious World Tour will last well into 2013 with dates from Muscat to Montreal and from Las Vegas to Cape Town. The shows will feature Russell's Official Tour DJ's, Toronto's DJ Starting from Scratch and New York City's DJ Spinbad, as well as video cameras and screens for an up-close and intimate show, which will capture Peters’ signature audience improv in an arena setting.
