People Magazine is reporting that Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger and singer Avril Lavigne are engaged!

According to the magazine, the couple's relationship has been so quiet that not many people knew they were dating -- let alone for the last six months.

The rockers will be showcasing a photo spread of Lavigne's shiny new 14 carat sparkler in an upcoming issue of People.

Lavigne, 27, and Kroeger, 37, apparently first got together earlier this year to co-write a song for Lavigne's upcoming fifth studio album.

While it will be Lavigne's second marriage, it's the first trip down the aisle for Kroeger. Lavigne was previously married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley in 2009.
