Nick Cannon was right when he said it would cost a lot of money to sign up Mariah Carey as the newest judge on American Idol.

The singer has officially signed on as a judge, and will reportedly earn about $18 million, making her the highest paid judge on reality television.

Britney Spears is reported to make $15 million for her X Factor gig and Christina Aguilera will make about $10 million on the third season of The Voice.

Carey, 42, tweeted her excitement of the news on Monday, "It's gonna be so much fun working on @AmericanIdol. As a singer-songwriter, I'm excited to help find and nurture new talent."

Mariah is currently working on her video for her new single, Triumphant, which is set to release in August.
