Justice for Captain!

Posted By: Nat Hunter · 7/20/2012 6:00:00 AM

Captain, the 2-year-old German Shepherd who was horribly beaten and left for dead in a Kitsilano dumpster, has sadly succumbed to his injuries.  This poor dog suffered unfathomable amounts in the final hours before his death and this cruelty case has hit many of us very hard.  So....let's do something about it.

We can't bring Captain back - but we can help others like him.  Over 7000 animal cruelty cases are reported in British Columbia each year and investigation and prosecution of those cases costs money..... a lot of it.  We've decided to set up a fundraising page in Captain's memory.  We want to raise money to help investigate and prosecute his killer.....and care for the thousands of other abused animals.

Donate if you can -- and even more important SPREAD THE WORD and SHARE THIS with everyone you know.

My daughter works at the hospital that Captain was at. I KNOW, Captain would have received a huge amount of love. The people there, are the kindest, and most attentive people I have ever come across. I call that place the "the Last Resort", because if they can't fix them, nobody can, Just know, that Captain was well looked after in his final hours. I, too, have shed lots of tears, being an animal lover.

Me and my husband are truly devastated by the news of Captain passing away. Just yesterday i donated money at the SPCA for Captain and we also put our name down for becoming Captain's foster parents once he was out of rehab. I couldn't stop crying as soon as my husband told me the news this morning. I just want justice for Captain - he was only 2 years old and i hope the person who did this to him gets the same treatment. No animal deserves this sort of cruelty. My husband had a german shepherd for 12 years and i had the privilege of knowing the german shepherd for a year before he passed away but they are such amazing dogs. There is nothing we can do to bring Captain back and i know our justice system is pretty weak when it comes to dealing with people like the person who did this to Captain, but this time i want Justice done and pray that no other animal goes through the pain and suffering the way Captain did.

I have three dogs and we were all in bed this am when I heard the sad news. These people who do these terrible deeds must be treated like the criminals they are and must be held accountable. The laws only slap them on the wrists and send them on their merry way which is so disheartening
time and time again, does no one who has the high authority care enough to do something. Why is it that the people always has to raise their voices before changes if any are made.
Captain is at the Rainbow bridge and I hope he is not waiting for his owner to come and see him, he has friends where he is now and more love and kindness than he could have imagined. He is a brave soul

The story brings tears to my eyes. Everytime I think of Captain, I cry.
I can't believe someone would do something so horrific. I think he should get the punishment of premenated murder. I really hope our "system" doesn't fail Captain.

Bastian is my King Charles Spaniel. Two years ago he was diagnosed with cancer. The past two years have been a roller coaster with many tears shed... but I continue to be honored with his loving life force. I simply haven't the capacity to fathom the what it takes for a person to be so cruel as to do what was done to Captain. I feel loath towards this person, but I also feel sorry for them... they must themselves be very lost and unloved.

Guys... where are the guys..? I notice that 99% of commenting on Facebook and Indiegogo is from girls. Get some balls guys... show you care about this issue...

My understanding is Captain was an RCMP dog that didn't make the cut. Hoping all police members will put in a strong effort to bring this sick, depraved, evil piece of crap to justice. It would be wonderful if someone knows who this guy is and can publish his name so some big strong man can go pay him a visit with a heavy chain. I'm sure there's a way to cover this up. Possibly throw him in a dumpster. I'm sure no-one will miss him. One less creep taking up space!!

Thank you to you, Drew, and your staff for being committed to such an important cause. So many people are broken-hearted over the loss of this poor animal. It is so important that "people" who abuse defenceless animals are brought to justice. What an amazing thing for you all to do!

I cannot allow myself to think of what this precious and beautiful boy, "Captain" suffered at the hands of his abuser. As a contributor to this cause, I seek nothing less than the maximum penalty, which as we all know, is not maximum enough for such a crime.
Thank you Nat and Drew for spearheading this campaign and for everyone who is contributing whatever they can. It speaks volumes and hopefully, will not fall on deaf ears ..... of those who are responsible for delivering justice.

I'm feeling such deep sadness over this, right to my core. I'm haunted by the thoughts of what this poor dog went through. I love all animals and can't imagine what kind of sick person would harm such innocent and trusting creatures.Does anyone know if a memorial service is or can be organized? I just feel like I need to pay my respects and try to get some closure. Any thoughts from others on this? Maybe a combo memorial service/fund raiser.

It is absolutely sickening what happened to this poor dog.may the owner rot in hell and suffer the same faith. And to all the neighbours that have seen how emaciated this poor dog was,you are all as guilty as the owner for standing by and watching this poor dog suffer.Safe you crocodile tears for somebody who cares.
This lovely dog has reached the rainbowbridge,He is free now of all the suffering and abuse he encountered in his short and tragic live.

Is there any progress being made to this case you could fill us in on? As a contributor to this cause, I'm a bit disappointed that I have not receieved any kind of update since the back-patting after the donation deadline. Since then there's also been the case of that bottomfeeder filiming himself torturing that kitten, the kittens left in that cooler out in Surrey, etc ... I'd think with a purse of $76,185, there should be enough clout to really make a difference in these animal cruelty laws.

    Update please.
