The BC Winter Games wrapped up in Vernon over the weekend.
Congratulations to everyone who took part. In all 1,145 athletes, 292 coaches and 160 officials who took part in the 15 different sports (Skiing, Judo, Gymnastics, Hockey, Figure Skating , Ringette...to name a few). And of course the thousands of people who volunteered.
As a kid I did a little competitive skiing at Big White and that was a fun and life enriching experience. I never won a gold medal, but I sincerely enjoyed TRYING!
I have sincere respect for all the young athletes who have committed to striving for excellence. And of course all the parents, grandparents and others who help them 'live the dream'.
